Leeds Castle Medieval Festival
Leeds Castle one of Britain’s great heritage sites staged a Medieval Festival in conjunction with the Royal Armouries in the summer of 2014. National treasures, like the armour that Henry VIII wore at ‘The Field of the Cloth of Gold’ in 1520, were on display at the castle and also a wide range of medieval re-enactments and family focused events were presented throughout the Summer.
We were asked to create a distinctive identity for the festival which would have the flexibility to address a wide range of applications in full and restrictive colour and particularly facilitate the design of festival merchandise, both for adults and children. Our solution featured the graphic simplicity and the often unintentional humour of the style of Medieval Woodcuts, in tandem with the use of mock ‘Olde English’ copy writing to create a lighthearted merchandise range.
